Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR) - Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation (SPIC) has been referred to the Board for Industrial and Financial Reconstruction (BIFR). The main objective of SICA is to determine sickness and expedite the revival of potentially viable units or closure of unviable units (unit here in refers to a Sick Industrial Company).
(BIFR) has accepted its Rs 100-crore revival proposal for ailing cable manufacturer INCAB.
“Tata Steel had submitted Rs 98.7 crore revival proposal for INCAB, which has been accepted by BIFR over two parties — RR Cable and Pegasus in the interest of the workers,” Company spokesperson Prabhat Sharma told PTI.
INCAB was referred to BIFR in 1999, which declared it sick in 2000. Nearly 1400 employees of the sick company, which has two plants at Jamshedpur and Pune apart from several offices have not been getting their wages since then, sources said.
“BIFR has asked Tata Steel to prepare a fully tied-up DRS proposal for the company and submit within a time span of two-and-a-half months,” a company statement said.
“The direction by BIFR in view of the unemployed workers of INCAB which has been lying closed for about 10 years now, causing immense hardship to the workers,” the statement added.
It is with this view that Tata Steel has been considered as the best choice to take care of the workers and ensure their well being, the company said.

NAGPUR: Nitin Gadkari, who is all set to take over as the new Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president, will assume office in Delhi on Saturday,afternoon. NAGPUR: It has been a long journey for 52-year-old Nitin Gadkari from a Sangh swayamsevak, to a student leader and to be the youngest-ever President of the BJP.
Gadkari who was appointed by the party's Parliamentary Board to the top post on Saturday, is a disciplined soldier of RSS and will have the distinction of becoming the first BJP chief from Maharashtra.
Gadkari (52) said he would seek the blessings of veteran party leader and former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee soon after assuming the charge. "I shall visit the Delhi residence of Vajpayee to pay respect to him," Gadkari, who celebrated his silver wedding anniversary with close relatives and select mediapersons at his 'Gadkariwada' residence in Mahal area in Nagpur, said.
He said he would be leaving for Delhi on Saturday morning and return to the city on December 20. He would address media in Nagpur on December 24.
Gadkari has maintained his close proximity with the RSS leadership right from the days of the then RSS chief Balasaheb Deoras and later with Rajju Bhaiyya, K C Sudarshan and the current head of the organisation Mohan Bhagwat.
In fact, the talk in BJP circles is that Gadkari became the hot favourite for the top job following Bhagwat's search for a new leader to turn the party around.
